Summer Treats Lineup Part 3- Ginger Lemonade

I don't know what the weather is like where you are, but, here in the South, it is hot. Disgustingly hot. Now, don't get me wrong; I love summer, and the heat is just part of life in the summer, so usually I just accept it for what it is. But this summer I have a little girl who would play outside from sun-up to sun-down every day, and when it's in the 90s outside that's just too much.

I'm normally pretty good about drinking lots of water; I have my water bottle full and nearby at all times, but sometimes I just want something with a little more flavor. I often add fresh fruit or a splash of lemon juice to my water to make it more interesting, but when I want something special my current favorite is Ginger Lemonade.

What You Need

Note: The following recipe is for one serving. And it's not a science; if you like strong flavors, adjust the ingredients according to your preferences.

12 oz Water

3-5 TBSP Lemon juice (fresh or bottled is fine)

1-2 tsp Sweetener of your choice (I've used sugar and stevia, and they're both good. I think honey makes it taste like something I'd drink if I had a cold)

Sprinkle ground ginger

What You Do

Mix everything in a glass until the sweetener is dissolved. Add ice, if you so desire. Enjoy, preferably on a beach somewhere with the warm wind blowing your hair, and the waves cooling your toes. Or perhaps sitting by a gorgeous mountain lake. Or whatever your happy place is. :)

I didn't have anything to make a pretty garnish for my drinks, so I dipped the rims of the glasses in gingered sugar. It was delicious!

If it does well, I could be asked to become a regular contributor, and how well it does is determined by the number of unique views it generates over the next couple of weeks. Here's that link again, if you need it! Thanks so much!
