A Virtual Tour: the Nursery

I believe I promised a tour of Sweet A's nursery ages ago and then never delivered. Well, the wait is over! It's 98% done (which is as done as it's going to be for a while), and I finally remembered to photograph it this morning.

The star garland above her bed is actually from her first birthday party, but I loved how it turned out and wanted to get some more mileage out of it. On a whim, I decided to hang it in her room and was pleasantly surprised!

The pom-pom garland is also leftover from A's birthday party. I've promised Husband that I'll take them down if we have a boy next, but, for now, I think they make the room more feminine, and I like that.

This shelf and its twin on the other side of the window are from a bookcase that was in my room when I was a little girl. I love that we're re-using them!

This mural is one of my favorite things in our house. I knew I wanted a mural in this room before we even got pregnant with A, and Husband, being the smart man that he is, suggested we paint it on a large piece of plywood rather than directly on the wall. That way we can take it with us whenever we move. I'm so glad we did because there is no way I'd want to leave it behind. My beautiful and talented sister-in-law (one of them, anyway) drew the picture, and a couple friends and I painted it.

This is the only piece that isn't fully completed. I would love for Husband to build a little window seat with a couple of built-in shelves to go under the window. The animals could sit on top of it with some nice little pillows, and the rest of the toys could be organized on the shelves. I have also started a couple of pieces of art to go on the walls since they're rather bare.
